HCC earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)—the nation’s largest organization of early childhood educators—in July 1996. Our current accreditation runs through December 31, 2021.

NAEYC is considered the gold standard for early childhood education and care. NAEYC-accredited programs demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality programs for young children and their families. The accreditation process examines the total program, but the greatest emphasis is placed on the quality of interactions among staff and children and the developmental appropriateness of the curriculum—what really happens to the children. Health and safety, staffing, staff qualifications, physical environment, and administration are also evaluated during the accreditation process.

Accredited programs, such as HCC, have met NAEYC’s 10 standards for high-quality early childhood education. These programs have demonstrated that they provide a safe and healthy environment for children, have teachers who are well-trained, have access to excellent teaching materials, and work with a curriculum that is appropriately challenging and developmentally sound. Following accreditation, all programs are subject to random, unannounced visits by assessors to ensure that the programs continue to meet these standards.
