HCC staff members are caring, loving, and respectful of children as individuals. We all understand the needs of working parents and the importance of working together with our families for the benefit of the children in our care.
Our teaching staff is selected on the basis of intelligence, resourcefulness, and ability to stimulate creativity and foster development. Along with these personality characteristics, HCC seeks individuals with formal training and previous childcare experience for our teaching positions:
BA degree in early childhood education or a related field or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
Minimum of one year of experience working with young children
A college degree or CDA credential preferred
Individuals working toward a CDA or degree are considered
All staff members must go through a Virginia Criminal History Records check and a Child Protective Services check, submit at least three references, and be vetted by the Center Director. The staff receives ongoing training for child development and education, CPR, and first aid.
